Most hand washes do one of two things well: they clean effectively, or they come in packaging that does not add to the plastic pile. This one from eco-mate does both.
The formula is built on 100% naturally derived, plant-based ingredients — free from parabens, triclosan, enzymes, chlorine bleaches, petroleum additives, lanolin, solvents, synthetic perfumes, and optical brighteners. Aloe vera keeps hands feeling comfortable after washing rather than stripped, and the bergamot and black pepper scent is derived from natural sources rather than synthetic fragrance. It kills 99.9% of bacteria and is hypoallergenic, making it suitable for sensitive skin.
The bottle is where eco-mate has done something genuinely different. The outer is 100% plastic-free paper, made from sustainably sourced pulp waste — a by-product of sugar cane production, so no trees are cut down in the process. The inner liner is not plastic either: it is made from natural pine sap. Each bottle sold replaces up to 40g of single-use plastic, and both the bottle and its contents are 100% biodegradable. The bottle has a 12-month shelf life.
