Most toothpastes do the job with a cocktail of synthetics and a tube that will outlast your grandchildren in landfill. Zerolla took a different route: a dry powder format that skips the plastic entirely and gets the whitening done with two ingredients that have a long track record — sodium bicarbonate and natural silica.
Sodium bicarbonate neutralises the acids that cause discolouration. Natural silica provides the gentle abrasion that lifts surface stains without scratching enamel. Together they polish rather than scour, which matters if you have been using a conventional whitening toothpaste and wondering why your teeth feel sensitive. The formula is also SLS-free — sodium lauryl sulphate is the foaming agent responsible for the lather in most toothpastes, and also the ingredient most associated with disrupting the mouth's microbial balance. Without it, the good bacteria in your mouth get to do their job.
