Plastic castles are everywhere. This one is made of board, and it still has a dragon.
The English Heritage Legends Castle from Playpress Toys is a buildable playset with a towering castle, a magic cave beneath it, and a cast of the King, the Queen and the Wizard. Beware of the dragon in the cave. The packaging includes a dramatic coastal scene, so the story has a setting from the moment it is opened.
What is in the set:
- Towering castle to build
- Magic cave beneath the castle
- The King, the Queen and the Wizard
- A dragon
- Packaging that includes a dramatic coastal scene
Why the material matters The set is made from Playboard, which Playpress Toys describes as sustainably sourced and FSC® certified (FSC-C004309). The brand says this makes it durable and long-lasting, which is what you want from a toy that will be knocked over by a dragon more than once. The FSC certification is the point to check here: it relates to how the board's wood fibre is sourced, which is the part of a paper-based toy that matters most.
Playboard is the brand's signature material across its range. Playpress Toys says it uses bleach-free fibres from sustainably managed Finnish forests, and vegetable-based inks and water-based glues in production. Those details come from the brand's own description of its range, not specific to this set.
It is also a hands-on toy. Children build it first, then play with it, which is a good use of a rainy afternoon.
This is an English Heritage collaboration, so the castle theme comes with a link to a real national institution.
