Most tea towels are made from synthetic microfibres — a form of plastic that sheds millions of particles into the water system with every wash cycle. These particles are too small for water treatment plants to filter out, which means they end up in rivers, oceans, and eventually in marine life. Wild & Stone's herringbone tea towels are made from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton, grown without pesticides, and will biodegrade at end of life without releasing any of that.
The herringbone weave is not just a visual choice. The distinctive V-shaped structure — named after the skeleton of the herring fish — creates more surface area per square centimetre than a plain weave, which is what makes these towels noticeably better at drying dishes and absorbing spills. At 48 x 70 cm and 85g each, they are a proper working kitchen towel, not a decorative one.
The dyes used are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, meaning they have been tested against a list of harmful substances and passed. Packaging is recyclable kraft sleeve — no plastic, no excess.

Care instructions: Machine wash at 60°C. Can be tumble-dried. Do not use fabric softener — it reduces absorbency. If towels develop an odour, soak in warm water with vinegar before washing.
