There is a particular pleasure in drinking from something that was made for the act of drinking. Habulous threw this tumbler on the wheel in Dartmoor, and the process left its mark in the best way: natural ridges along the body that follow the shape of your fingers, and a rim shaped specifically to follow the curve of your lips. These are not design decisions made in a boardroom — they are what happens when a potter pays attention.
The earthy greens and browns of the glaze are a direct reference to the moorland landscape outside the studio: the gorse, the forest, the long stretches of terrain that shift colour with the light. Where the two glazes meet, the natural clay shows through, baking to a warm cream that gives the piece its quiet contrast in texture. No two tumblers are identical. Yours will be its own thing.
Beyond how it looks, the stoneware construction and internal tin glaze mean it holds temperature better than a standard glass — useful whether you are using it as an alternative wine glass, a water tumbler, or something in between. It is dishwasher and microwave safe, though hand-washing is recommended to keep a handmade piece at its best for longer.
