There is something quietly pleasing about a ceramic bird that actually does something. Habulous's cornflower blue air plant holders are handcrafted in Great Britain from British clay — every beak, body, and glaze applied by hand, which means the bird you receive will have its own particular character. That is not a caveat; it is the point.
Air plants are one of the more forgiving ways to bring greenery indoors. No soil, minimal mess, and they sit neatly in the bird's back. Place them on a windowsill, shelf, mantelpiece, or side table — wherever the light suits your chosen plant. Habulous also makes these birds in other pastel colourways if you want to build a small flock.
Choosing your air plant:
- Ionantha — a compact, spiky variety, good for beginners. Grows to roughly 2.5–4.5cm wide and 4–8cm tall.
- Capitata Peach — slightly larger and blushed with colour, also well-suited to first-time air plant owners. Grows to 8–12cm wide and 8–12cm tall.
- Caput — a more dramatic, arching variety for the more confident grower. Grows to 4–6cm wide and 10–14cm tall.

A note on air plant care: care for your air plant as soon as it arrives — this is especially important if you are giving it as a gift. Air plants can have natural browning, which is normal. Habulous will only be able to exchange or refund if the plant arrives damaged in transit; notify them immediately with images if that is the case.
Because each bird is entirely handmade, yours will differ slightly from the images shown. That is not a flaw — it is what handcraft looks like.
