Habulous's bird match striker pot sits firmly in the second camp — a handmade ceramic piece that holds approximately 50 matches (measured by weight) and comes with a built-in striker pad, so lighting a candle becomes a small, considered ritual rather than a rummage through a drawer.
Each bird is made by hand in Great Britain using British clay, which means yours will differ slightly from the one in the photograph. That is not a caveat — it is the point. The beak, the body, the glaze: all shaped individually, all slightly different. No two are the same.
The light yellow glaze makes it a natural companion to Habulous's pastel tealight holders, but it works equally well as a standalone piece on a mantelpiece, bathroom shelf, or kitchen windowsill. When the matches run out, refill the plumage with your choice of colour — white or pastel mix — or repurpose the pot entirely. Cotton buds, pencils, dried botanicals: the bird adapts.
The striker pad will wear with use over time. Replacement matches and additional strike pads are available separately from Habulous.
