There are match pots, and then there are match pots you actually want to look at. Habulous makes the second kind.
Each bird is thrown and finished by hand at their Devon studio using British clay, which means the one that arrives with you is not a replica of the product image — it is its own thing. The beak angle, the glaze pooling, the exact shade of pastel: all of it shifts slightly from piece to piece, and that is the point.
The bird holds approximately 50 matches (measured by weight, so the count is approximate), and the striker pad sits neatly on the base. When the matches run out, refill with your choice of colour — white-tipped for a cleaner look, or pastel mix if you want the plumage to do more work. Refills and replacement striker pads are available separately from Habulous.
Beyond matches, the pot works just as well as a holder for cotton buds, small pencils, or dried flower stems. It is the kind of object that earns its counter space.
Available in five pastel glaze colours: Off-White, Light Yellow, and Pale Pink (plus two further colourways). Pairs well with Habulous's pastel tealights if you are building a considered shelf or table arrangement.
