Compostable Swedish Dish Cloths — Set of 4

Compostable Swedish Dish Cloths — Set of 4
Made in Sweden from FSC® certified cellulose and waste cotton, these cloths absorb up to 15 times their own weight, go straight into the dishwasher or washing machine, and compost completely when they're done — which is more than can be said for the plastic sponge they replace.

The Swedish dishcloth was invented in 1949 by engineer Curt Lindqvist, and the format has barely changed since — because it works. A hybrid of cloth and sponge, it handles everything from kitchen spills to bathroom surfaces without leaving streaks, and when it gets dirty, it goes in the dishwasher or washing machine and comes out like new.
Wild & Stone's version is made in Sweden from FSC® certified cellulose and waste cotton, printed with water-based inks, and packaged in recyclable card. The set of four comes in grey, white, pink, and green — useful for keeping different cloths assigned to different areas of the home without any guesswork.
Why it matters:
- Traditional sponges are made from petroleum-derived plastics, typically last a couple of weeks, and shed microplastics into waterways as they degrade
- These cloths are fully biodegradable and compostable — when you're finished, cut them into strips and add them to your household compost bin
- The FSC® certification (FSC® C007915) covers the wood fibre from forest through finished product, including commitments to ecosystem maintenance and indigenous land rights
- Vegan and cruelty-free
Key specifications:
