Reusable Linen and Viscose Face Mask – Blossom

Cut from leftover fabric from Komodo's SOS collaboration range, this linen-viscose blend mask uses material that would otherwise go to waste — and the PM2.5-rated filter insert means it is doing more than most reusable masks in its price bracket.

There is a straightforward logic to this mask: Komodo had surplus fabric from their SOS collaboration range, and rather than bin it, they cut it into something useful. The outer shell is a 55% organic linen and 45% viscose blend — a combination that is breathable and structured without being stiff. The lining is 95% bamboo jersey with 5% spandex, which sits comfortably against the face. The adjustable elastic ear loops mean it actually fits.

The mask ships with two PM2.5 disposable insert filters, which slot into a bamboo jersey pocket on the inside. PM2.5 refers to the filter's ability to capture fine particulate matter — the same standard used in many clinical-grade disposable masks. When those two filters are used up, replacements are widely available online; search for "PM2.5 disposable filters" to find compatible options.

If you prefer a reusable insert, several studies suggest that a high thread-count, tightly woven cotton fabric folded a couple of times performs comparably. Loose knit or jersey fabrics are not suitable as inserts.

Because each mask is cut from waste fabric, pattern placement varies — no two are identical. The images show examples of how the Blossom print can fall across the mask.

About Our Brand Komodo

Komodo has spent over three decades proving that sustainable fashion does not have to be a compromise between style and conscience. Founded in 1988, the brand set out to show that contemporary clothing design and genuine environmental responsibility are not mutually exclusive, a challenge they continue to meet with each collection.

What distinguishes Komodo in practice is their material choices. Rather than relying on conventional fabrics, they work with organic and natural eco-fibres, incorporate green PU coating, and use recycled PET derived from plastic bottles. The majority of their products are vegan, and all are produced without cruelty, commitments that go beyond labelling and into the fabric of how each garment is made.

Komodo has also taken the deliberate step of eliminating single-use plastics from their supply chain entirely. This is not a target or an aspiration; it is already done. For a fashion brand operating since the late 1980s, that level of supply chain discipline reflects a consistency of values that is rare in an industry still catching up to where Komodo started.
