Sanskrit 108 Talisman Necklace

A 15mm charm engraved with the Sanskrit numeral 108 — handcrafted in Jaipur by Fair Trade artisans on a recycled sterling silver base, with 22k gold vermeil plated to 2.5 microns for lasting wear. The kind of piece that means something, made by people whose work means something too.

The number 108 carries weight across traditions. In yogic practice it marks the completion of a cycle; in astronomy it appears in the ratio of the sun's diameter to its distance from Earth. The Sanskrit numerals on this charm break it down further: 1 for higher truth, 0 for completeness, 8 for infinity. Worn as a talisman, it is a quiet reminder of something larger — small enough to sit close to the collarbone, specific enough to start a conversation.

Rize makes jewellery in Jaipur, drawing on India's architectural and craft heritage. Every piece is handmade by artisans from marginalised communities, and the brand's Fair Trade commitment means those artisans are paid and supported fairly. The base metal is recycled sterling silver throughout — not a marketing claim, a material specification. The gold vermeil finish is applied at 2.5 microns, which is the threshold that separates genuine vermeil from gold-plated pieces that wear away quickly.

Ten per cent of every Rize sale goes to two children's charities in Bangalore. That is built into the price, not added on top.

  • Material: 22k gold vermeil (2.5 microns) over recycled sterling silver, or sterling silver

  • Charm dimensions: 15mm x 15mm including bails
  • Handmade by Fair Trade artisans in Jaipur, India
