Changing Shape Hoop Earrings

Each pair is individually hand-formed in solid 9k yellow gold in Diana Sherling's London studio — the flowing, organic outline is the point, a deliberate departure from the perfect circle that makes these feel alive on the ear rather than merely worn.

There are periods in life where you can feel yourself changing before you fully understand what you are becoming. Priorities shift. Relationships evolve. The sense of self begins to move differently through the world. Lily Flo Jewellery's Changing Shape hoops were designed as a reflection on exactly that — the continual, unfinished process of becoming.

The hoop does not close into a perfect circle. Instead, it moves in a flowing, organic line that subtly expands and contracts as it curves around itself, creating a silhouette that feels alive and in motion. Where traditional hoops tend to symbolise completion, this one embraces fluidity. It is a piece about allowing yourself to evolve without needing to remain who you once were.

Founder Diana Sherling, a trained goldsmith, makes each pair entirely by hand in her London studio using traditional goldsmithing techniques — individually formed, soldered, and polished. The curves intentionally retain a sense of softness and human movement, so the piece feels intimate rather than mechanically uniform. Gold, as a material that can be heated, stretched, compressed, and reshaped without ever losing its essence, becomes the metaphor.

  • Material: solid 9k yellow gold
  • Design: sculptural flowing hoop, organic non-circular form
  • Hoop size: approximately 14–16mm
  • Gold thickness: approximately 1.5mm
  • Fittings: solid gold posts and butterfly backs
  • Made to order, individually hand-formed in London
  • Presented in Lily Flo Jewellery packaging

Because each pair is made to order, minor variation between pieces is inherent — and intentional. No two are mechanically identical, which is rather the point.

About Our Brand Lily Flo Jewellery

Fine jewellery has a provenance problem. Most pieces come with no information about where the gold was mined, who cut the diamonds, or what conditions looked like along the way. Lily Flo Jewellery exists precisely because founder Diana Sherling — a trained goldsmith who left a career in advertising to build this brand — decided that dainty, wearable everyday jewellery did not have to come with that uncertainty attached.

Every piece is made using recycled gold, which means no new mining is required to produce it. The diamonds are responsibly sourced, with traceability built into the supply chain rather than bolted on as a marketing claim. The result is fine jewellery — delicate rings, earrings, and pendants designed to be worn daily — where the provenance is as considered as the design itself.

What makes Lily Flo worth knowing about is that Diana's goldsmithing training is not incidental to the brand — it shapes every production decision. She is not a designer who outsources the craft questions; she understands the material, the process, and where the shortcuts are usually taken. That means the ethical commitments here are grounded in technical knowledge, not just good intentions. For anyone who has grown tired of jewellery brands that gesture at responsibility without being able to explain what it means in practice, that distinction matters.
