There is a version of sustainable footwear that asks you to compromise on how a shoe looks or how long it lasts. The R-Thrive is not that. Ration.L has built this trainer from the ground up using materials that would otherwise be waste — and the result is a shoe that wears well precisely because the materials were chosen for durability, not just credentials.
The apple leather upper is certified and carries the texture and structure you would expect from a quality trainer. The lining is made from recycled corn waste, and the sole from recycled rubber. The other components — the parts that give the shoe its cushioning and character — are made from recycled padel and tennis balls. Even the packaging is recycled. Nothing here is decorative sustainability.
