There are spoon rests, and then there are spoon rests you actually want on your hob. Habulous makes the second kind.
This one is thrown and decorated by hand at their studio on Dartmoor, Devon, using a flecked British stoneware clay that develops its character in the kiln. The pale pink and mint green glazes are separated by a band of exposed clay — that warm, orange-toned burn is not a finish applied after the fact, it is what happens when the clay meets the heat. No two come out quite the same.
It does the job a spoon rest is supposed to do — keeps the worktop clean, keeps the spoon close — but it does it without looking like something that came in a set of twelve from a supermarket aisle.
