There is something quietly pleasing about a piece that does exactly what it looks like. This ceramic whale sits on your windowsill or beside the sink, holds a sprig of flowers or an air plant in its back, and makes people smile every time they notice it. It is handmade by Habulous in Great Britain from British clay — which is why the texture, the weight, and the slight variations from piece to piece feel right rather than accidental.
The interior is coated in a white tin glaze, making it watertight and suitable for holding water with cut flowers or a small posy. The exterior is dipped in Habulous's own glaze for a matte finish, and the whale's tummy is hand-scored to add a band of tactile texture. Every whale is made individually, so yours will differ slightly from the images — that is the point.
Available in three sizes, with the option to add a mini air plant. Air plants vary by type and cannot be guaranteed to a specific variety. Natural browning on air plants is normal.
