Small Blue Mercury Glass Bowl

Small Blue Mercury Glass Bowl
Made using the mercury glass technique originating in Murano and born from Nick Munro's travels through European glassblowing workshops, this double-walled bowl (15cm diameter, 7cm height) has been exhibited at the V&A Museum — the kind of object that earns its place on a shelf rather than just filling it.

There is a particular quality to mercury glass that photographs cannot quite capture — the way light moves through the double-walled construction, the depth of colour that shifts depending on where you are standing. Nick Munro encountered this technique during travels through European glassblowing workshops, tracing it back to its origins in Murano, and the Silver Lining Collection is the result of that research made physical.
This small bowl is blue — a specific, considered blue that reads as serene rather than decorative. The double-walled mercury glass construction gives it a luminosity that single-layer glass cannot replicate. At 15cm across and 7cm tall, it sits comfortably as a standalone object or as part of a considered arrangement.
Nick Munro's work has been collected by the V&A Museum and the Sheffield Millennium Gallery, and the design philosophy behind every piece in the range is the same one that produced the official London 2012 Olympic Games silverware: that beautiful objects should also be purposeful ones. This bowl holds nibbles, potpourri, or small items with the same ease that it holds attention as a decorative piece.
