The Aalto is Votch's take on a clean, nautical-influenced watch that works across occasions without asking you to compromise on what the strap is made from.
The strap is Piñatex — not faux leather, not a vague plant-based alternative, but a specific material made from the fibres of pineapple leaves. Those leaves are a by-product of the pineapple harvest, meaning no extra land is cultivated and no additional pesticides or fertilisers are used to produce the material. The farmers growing the pineapples receive additional income from the fibre harvest. It is one of the more genuinely circular material stories in accessories.
The case is 40mm in a brushed black finish — a size that sits well on most wrists without reading as oversized. The dial is black, the movement is a Japanese GL20, and the watch is water resistant to 3ATM (splash and rain resistant, not for swimming). It arrives in an eco-friendly pouch and box.

Care instructions: Piñatex is a natural material and benefits from a little maintenance. Votch recommend treating the strap with a natural wax — clear dubbin works well. Apply the wax, leave the strap in a warm location for 24 hours, then buff with a soft cloth. Regular care will keep the strap in good condition and extend its life considerably.
