The Watergate frame started with a conversation between Bear Essentials and the surfboard shapers at Watergate Bay. The result is a curvy, playful silhouette inspired by the rolling swell the bay is known for year-round — a shape that works equally well on round, oval, and diamond face shapes.
The frame itself is built from sustainably sourced high-grade hardwood veneer, laminated with thin layers of aluminium for structural resilience. Over 65 individual steps go into hand-crafting each frame from Bear Essentials' workshop, which means the grain pattern, finish, and character of every pair will differ slightly from the next. That is not a quality control issue — it is the point.
