Each Afsheen Pouch is hand-embroidered by Sadia Anwar in Pakistan. The motif is first drawn by hand, then transferred onto the cotton fabric using the traditional technique of poncing — a method of tracing a design through a perforated pattern. From there, the embroidery is worked in three distinct stitch types: bharat, moti, and dandi tanka, with beads incorporated into the finished piece. The result is a small object with a lot of hours in it.
