Cling film is one of those things most of us use without thinking about it. Auklett's vegan food wraps are the straightforward swap: same job, none of the single-use waste, and nothing in the composition that raises questions about food safety.
The wraps are made entirely from plant-based materials — candelilla wax (a food-grade plant wax), Grade A damar tree resin, extra virgin olive oil, and OEKO-TEX certified 100% cotton fabric. There is no beeswax, no palm, no soy. The OEKO-TEX certification on the cotton means the fabric has been tested against a list of harmful substances — it is the certification that covers what is actually in the material, not just what is claimed on the label.
Each set contains three sizes, cut by hand:
- 1x Large (30cm) — wrap a tomato, apple, jar, or snacks for on the go
- 1x Medium (25cm) — wrap a sandwich, burger, or large fruit
- 1x Small (20cm) — cover a large bowl or pie dish, or wrap a long sandwich
With normal use and proper care, each wrap lasts 6–12 months. When it eventually gets tired, it can be rewaxed using Auklett's Refresher Bars, composted, or used as a firelighter. Nothing goes to landfill.
Because these are cut by hand and made from natural tree resin and candelilla wax, there may be slight size variations and tiny flecks of plant or tree material visible in the wrap. This is normal and does not affect food safety or performance.
How to use: Use the heat of your hands to soften the wrap before using it for the first time — it can be a little sticky initially. Use wraps to cover bowls, wrap sandwiches, half an onion, apple, tomato, or snacks. They also work in the freezer and can keep open bottles of wine fresh or keep a toothbrush travel-ready. Give the wrap a quick rinse in cool or cold water before first use.
Care: Wash in cool or cold water only and air dry. Store in a cool, dry place. Keep away from heat, hot water, ovens, microwaves, and dishwashers — the wax will melt. Do not use with raw meat or fish.
Allergen notice: If you have a nut allergy, please avoid all wax food wraps.
